A luxury watch is a lot more than just something that tells the time. As well as being a pure symbol of classic engineering, with an interesting history. There are also lots of personal stories that are associated with these watches, often making the sentimental values more important than the financial one. If you look after your watched properly, then you should be able to pass it down generation to generation. It isn’t difficult to properly look after a watch, especially if you have a passion for them or a close personal connection.
Clean Your Watch
To clean your watch, it is very simple. Take a soft cloth and wipe down the band and the case to remove any dirt or dust. Soak the watch in soap and water, do this every couple of months to loosen the dirt.
Know Your Watch’s Water Resistance
Some watch wearers aren’t aware of their watch’s limits and end up taking their watch too deep into water. For example, if your watch has a resistance up to 50 meters, it would not be a good idea to take your watch snorkelling. The changes in pressure may be to much for your watch to take. If your watch is not water resistant, then it can still handle small splashes of water, but it is best to try and avoid it if possible. If you have a leather watch strap, you will also still want to avoid getting your watch wet. This is because the water can weaken the watch strap.
Keep Hold of Your Watch Box
When you are not wearing your watch, it is best to keep it inside the box it came in. If you rest the watch on its side or on the crystal, then there Is a chance that you could get scratches on your watch.
